My autistic child

Dear Heart That Holds So Much,

You didn’t ask for this diagnosis. You didn’t plan for sleepless nights or the weight of the unknown pressing on your chest. Sometimes, fear grips you; what will life look like for my child? Will they be okay? And along with that fear may come guilt, resentment, even regret. Please know that these emotions don’t make you weak. They make you real. And loving your child while holding these feelings is not a contradiction, its courage. Every parent’s journey is unique, but yours comes with a strength forged in fire. When the world doesn’t see your child, you do. And that seeing your fierce, patient, enduring love can move mountains. Keep showing up. Keep believing in the small wins. Keep whispering hope over your child. One day, you’ll look back and see how far you both have come. And it will all be worth it.
